De Vredestuin
On this page, you can get to know the team behind De Vredestuin and find out how our story began. Who are the people behind this project, what drives us, and how did De Vredestuin grow into what it is today? Feel free to take a look behind the scenes and get to know us better.
Stefaan Vanoverberghe
Stefaan Vanoverberghe is the manager and the beating heart of De Vredestuin. He has been working as an independent horticulturist since 1994 and spends every day tending to his fruit and vegetables in the fields. With great care and craftsmanship, he ensures that everything grown here retains the pure flavour of home-grown produce.
But Stefaan does more than just grow produce. He also puts his creativity to work in the kitchen at De Vredestuin. It was there that the recipes for our Ambachtelijke Lukken and Ambachtelijke Spletters were created, made with 100% West Flemish produce. Both products are therefore recognised by 100% West-Vlaams. Each and every one of them is a product where craftsmanship, tradition and a love for the region come together.

Stefaan never sits still. With his ideas, ambition and perseverance, De Vredestuin has grown into much more than a farm shop. He dreamed of a place where people could slow down for a while and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. Today, visitors can settle down on the farm terrace, surrounded by nature and the countryside.
Stefaan is keen to pass on this passion for nature. That is why we regularly welcome school groups of all ages to the farm. During these visits, children discover where food comes from through hands-on experiences and learn more about vegetables, fruit, plants and life on the farm. More information on this can be found here.
Kristien Vanacker

Kristien Vanacker is often the first person you meet when you step into De Vredestuin. With her warm smile and friendly manner, she makes sure customers feel at ease straight away. She's always happy to make time for a chat, lends a sympathetic ear and remembers people's stories. This personal touch is what makes so many customers feel truly at home here.
Together with Stefaan, Kristien set up the farm shop in 2004, which has since become a fixture for many visitors.
Creativity runs in Kristien's blood. She trained as a window dresser and uses her talent every day to create an atmospheric and attractive shop layout. Throughout the seasons and festive periods, the shop's look changes, meaning there is always something new to discover.
Kristien also plays a key role behind the scenes. Together with Stefaan, she oversees the production and packaging process for our Ambachtelijke Lukken and Ambachtelijke Spletters. She is also the creative mind behind the beautifully curated hampers and boxes, which are often chosen as original and locally sourced gifts.
Kristien is the point of contact for businesses. She enjoys engaging with organisations to explore what De Vredestuin can offer them and to work together to create opportunities for a fruitful partnership. Want to know more? Get in touch here!
